Stuff You Wish You Didn’t Know About Friends

Posted on

At one point or another, everyone has dreamt of having a clique as perfect as the bunch we came to love in Friends. However, as soon as the camera stops rolling, the crew’s lives get as messy as anyone’s – or maybe much more, considering that Chandler’s impersonator claims not to remember a few seasons of the show because of being so drugged. Take a look at some of the worst episodes from Friends’ lives…

MATT LEBLANC, A NOTORIOUS DRUNK DRIVER

“Twice, I think”, Matt said candidly when asked about Joey’s problems with the law in season three. However, that one time he was speaking about his actual life experience, not fiction. “When I was young and stupid. I wasn’t driving fast, just crooked. The press never got hold of the mugshots. I was lucky,” he admitted in 2014 to the UK’s Telegraph.

LEBLANC’S WIFE TAKEN UNAWARE WITH THE DIVORCE

In 2006, it didn’t seem to anyone that LeBlanc’s marriage could be heading towards it end – until it fell apart, surprising not only the general audience but also… Melissa, LeBlanc’s wife. It was later revealed that Matt was already in a relationship with Andrea Anders when he filed for divorce. Thus, his wife’s attempts at reconciliation had no chance of success. LeBlanc never validated the claims that his affair with Andrea, which ended in 2015, may have been his motive for the divorce.

LEBLANC’S STRIP CLUB ADVENTURES

We have no idea why Matt would share that with the media, but during a 2005 encounter he genuinely opened about having taken advantage of the services of a supposedly “sexually aggressive stripper”. “The stripper was all over me,” he said while talking to The National Enquirer’s reporter. “I was drinking, and she was crossing the line…When I realized the situation that was unfolding I felt I was being careless and irresponsible, and I had to get the hell out of there.” It is all supposed to have happened during a road trip with Matt’s best friends, although it’s doesn’t provide much base for a justification.

COURTNEY COX MAKES SITCOM PRODUCERS GO CRAZY AT HER WHIM

Via: abcnews.go.com

Courtney was engaged in the production of a 2009 ABC sitcom, Cougar Town… Until she wasn’t, and the problem is – no one knows why. The actress’s representatives claimed she wasn’t able to carry on working due to “private family matters”. However, their true nature hasn’t been revealed to this day.

ANOTHER FISHY DIVORCE

This time, kudos to Courtney for providing us with gossip material. After more than a decade of happy marriage, the actress and her husband, David Arquette, disclosed their separation. However, it took them more than two years to actually get the paperwork done – it wasn’t until 2013 when they were finally single by the law. “In divorce you always have regret,” Cox explained in 2014. “We were married for a long time, so it’s not like we didn’t try.” It seems like the couple actually kept things civil – an uncommon feat in the world of celebs. They are still on friendly terms and they are completely devoted to Coco, their daughter, whom they are still raising in firm cooperation.

LISA KUDROW’S TRIAL

Via: abcnews.go.com

Lisa’s lengthy judicial venture lasted almost six years – her ex-manager, Scott Howards, was onto her from back in 2008. He insisted that Kudrow didn’t pay him all overdue residuals for the years when they worked together. It wasn’t easy, but in 2014, after years of bitter wrestling in court, Howards finally got the jury to accept his claims. The ruling was probably more significant to him than to Lisa – 1,600,000$ that she had to transfer to his account sounds like a hefty chunk of change, but it is actually equitable to her recompense for one episode of Friends on it’s heyday.

DAVID SCHWIMMER – THE NEIGHBOR OF YOUR NIGHTMARES

“Ross Is Not Cool” is an actual graffiti that Schwimmer’s neighbors painted on a wall right next to his house, so you can imagine the atmosphere on the block. David, much like his character, has never been one to lead a life full of parties and glamor, but he still managed to annoy his neighbors by dismantling a building that dated back to 1852 to raise a more modern one. No wonder no one brought him cake when he moved in!

JENNIFER ANISTON’S PROBLEMS WITH FAMILY …

Via: variety.com

It was back in 1999 – hasn’t it been ages? – when Nancy Dow, Jennifer’s mother, published From Mother and Daughter to Friends: A Memoir, the shocking book that drove Aniston up the wall. The relation of the two women was bitter for more than a decade; it took sixteen years for Jennifer to publicly state that her mother and she are “all fine now”. During the long years of so-called cold war, Aniston expressed her hostility by not inviting her mother to either of her weddings in 2000 and 2015. Jennifer’s childhood was also marked by family struggles – her parents divorced in 1980. She admitted that she found her mother bothering at all stages of life: “She was also very unforgiving. She would hold grudges that I just found so petty.”

…AND NOT ONLY FAMILY, APPARENTLY

Having in mind how troublesome mother’s figure was in Jennifer’s life, it comes to no surprise that she didn’t find her a place on the wedding guest list… But Nancy Dow wasn’t the only standout omission. “If she wanted me there, I would have been there. I think she’s happy. And that’s all I care about,” said… Matt LeBlanc, one of Friends’ cast members. Actually, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry were not invited, either. It seems that being Friends on screen is enough for Jennifer Aniston – in real life, the boys are nothing more than colleagues.

MATTHEW PERRY’S ADDICTION

Via: fanpop.com

To say it the Biblical style, let the one who’s never ingested an unhealthy substance throw a stone first… But at one point in his life Matthew Perry really did fall off the wagon. Having managed to get his life sorted, the actor has opened about the critical period: “I think the answer is, I don’t remember three years of it [the filming of Friends]”. When an interviewer asked him to pinpoint his least favorite episode, he actually gave a more detailed account, admitting when he was at his worst: “So none of those … somewhere between Season three and six.” As distressing as it must have been for Perry, he didn’t try to justify or empower himself before the media. He confessed that he “couldn’t stop” and was conscious of it.
