Seinfeld Likes Them Young

Seinfeld was 38 years old in May 1993. Guess how old was his then-sweetheart… Yeah, you wouldn’t guess it. Shoshanna Lonstein was a 17-year-old and still in high school when Seinfeld fell head over heels for her. The brave fellow approached her for her number in Central Park; the rest is history. Howard Stern, a radio host, spent a significant amount of time questioning Seinfeld about the age gap between him and his beloved, but he would repeatedly state that “She’s not 17, definitely not.” Maybe she wasn’t… Because almost as soon as they met, the girl turned 18. When he talked to Stern, Seinfeld explained: “This is the only girl I ever went out with who was that young. I wasn’t dating her. We just went to a restaurant, and that was it.” People report that the beginnings really were innocent, but the couple’s status “changed slowly” during the months after their first encounter. They’d later take turns visiting each other, as Shoshanna was already a college student enrolled at George Washington University. Unfortunately, the relationship was broken off in 1997; Daily Mail reported it was due to overwhelming media attention. When the couple was still well, Seinfeld said: “She is extremely bright. She’s funny, sharp, very alert. We just get along. You can hear the click.” It seems it’s a shame such a well-matched pair had to split.
