Gym Nightmares – Pray They Never Happen To You

Posted on

Life ain’t easy, enough said – a lot of nightmarish things often occur when you least expect them, wreaking havoc in your plans and making your day an utter mess. Gym might seem like a safe haven that can shield you from those unlucky events, from the furious boss, from the whining of your children… Unfortunately, though, some truly awful things can get on your nerves even as you’re just trying to do something good for your body.

Didn’t Tie Your Shoes

To have comfortable, good quality shoes is one of the most crucial things you have to remember before you set out on your gym journey. No matter how rad your Nikes or Adidas are, though, if you forget to tie them! Always glance at your feet for the second time before you leave the dressing room or you’ll end up on your face.

It’s nothing pleasant when you’re trying out a new exercise and you it seems like everyone is staring at you with a malicious grin. Unfortunately, everyone looks stupid at one point or another – you shouldn’t worry about the onlookers, your form is more important and you’ll get better at that technique if you give it time.

The Poor Machine

It’s understandable that people can struggle with certain exercises – even that buff personal trainer experienced an embarrassing first time at the gym, so even though he might be smirking, deep down – he understands. But it’s a whole different thing to misuse the machines – what would you say if someone tried to boil soup in a frying pan? If you’re uncertain, consult someone who’s gym savvy.

Ooops, Too Heavy

You might think that the chick who passes by will simply throw herself at your feet when you lift that huge chunk of metal, but she definitely won’t if you just fold under its weight. It’s not only embarrassing to try more than you can handle, it can also cause injury, so watch out!

Injuries

I’m not going to make fun of this one because it’s too serious and the consequences are usually direr than just bad rep. There are many machines and pieces of equipment in the gym that can cause you serious health problems if you don’t use them appropriately, so always have your feet on the ground and don’t act mindlessly even if you’ve already done this exercise a thousand times.

The Scent

It’s probably not your favorite to enter the gym as your nose usually immediately enters a nightmarish seizure. The huge concentration of sweat is enough to make a hobo wince. The worst thing is when you’re the one whose scent has the destructive power of a nuclear bomb… So never forget the deodorant!

Puking

If you’re a cross-fitter, you can stop reading now – it’s probably your dream to prove how indestructible you are by throwing up due to so much exercise… If you’re just a peaceful gym-goer, though, remember that it can be an awful experience to overdo your workout and end up covering the room in the disgusting ooze, not to mention how much you’ll hurt the next day.

Farting

I’m going to let you in on a secret now – that loud music is in your gym ever since the personal trainer farted a fart as noisy as an airplane getting off when he was showing someone an exercise. The music won’t help, though, if someone is passing right by you, so watch your buttocks!

Hello, Willy

No one wants to smell bad when going home, so it’s quite normal to want to take a shower unless you live around the block… The problems start when you bump into someone you know – and suddenly, you get to know them much more thoroughly than you ever wanted to! Time to pretend this event never had place and fail miserably when you both burst out laughing the next time you see each other.

Leap of Faith

I almost experienced this one. I decided to close my eyes and see if I could keep up the pace – long story short, I couldn’t. But I did manage not to fall off entirely! Still a hilarious sight, though. Remember not to overdo the speed on the treadmill and not to try to look behind your back – this one almost make me fall once, too.
