Celebs Who Died Too Soon

Posted on

What’s one thing that Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, and Kurt Cobain have in common? You might have heard about it already – they’re all members of the so-called 27 Club, a group of stars who kicked the bucket before their 28th spring. We tend to analyze even the most mundane parts of celebs’ lives, so it comes to no surprise that they can’t find peace even after they’ve passed. Take a look at some celebrities who sadly perished while at the peak.

HEATH LEDGER

This amazing actor doesn’t get into the 27 Club, but he didn’t keep evading death for long, succumbing to a severe overdose as little as a year later. Had he lived, he would undoubtedly have carried on acting in more outstanding movies. His performance as Joker in The Dark Knight will be remembered for the decades to come – actually, Heath was posthumously rewarded with an Oscar for this impersonation. The Dark Knight Rises would have been a much better movie, had Ledger had the chance to star in it. We will miss him dearly.

TUPAC SHAKUR

Tupac died during an endeavor worthy of an acclaimed rapper – a victim of a drive-by shooting taking place nowhere else but in Las Vegas. A national of Harlem, he still ended up a member of the west coast clique. This affiliation might have been the cause of his passing as similar shootings were often motivated by east-west grudges. One of the most prolific rappers to have ever hit the industry, Shakur kept delivering new albums as many times as seven… after his death. That doesn’t include 15 live performance, remix, compilation, and soundtrack albums – what a star! We’re confident Tupac would have molded himself into even more of a legend if he hadn’t so sadly perished.

 AALIYAH

As Aaliyah was taking part in the recording of the video for Rock The Boat, her top single to be, she couldn’t have thought she wouldn’t get to sing again. Unfortunately, she was to die soon, breathing her last breath in a terrible plane crash in 2001. She was a talented actress and an outstanding singer with a body to envy – it’s a shame she was pushed off her way to becoming a star of the profile of Madonna or Whitney Houston.

LISA “LEFT EYE” LOPES

Lisa was as unlucky as Aaliyah, dying not of a drug overdose, as celebrities tend to do, but in a car accident. “No Scrubs” is a song that still gets antenna time on the radio although more than ten years have passed – and it is part of FanMail, the CD delivered by Lopes’ group, TLC, soon after her death. Lisa’s passing marked the end of an era for her band, which had managed to garner 8 number one singles while “Left Eye” was still alive.

CHRIS FARLEY

Farley went to rehab a groundbreaking SEVENTEEN times, but that wasn’t enough – he overdosed a dangerous mix of morphine and cocaine, even worse combined than each on their own. The star of Saturday Night Live is known to have been too anxious to handle the celebrity life – it’s not unusual for people in his situation to try making up for the fragility of mind with drugs. As at the apex of his career he had a paycheck of about $6 million per movie secured, so money couldn’t have been the problem. The poor guy simply didn’t know how to come to terms with himself.

PHIL HARTMAN

Hartman was one more star of Saturday Night Live, an acclaimed comedian adored by everyone who’s even seen a TV show. An amazing actor also involved in preparing voiceovers, he starred not only in SNL but also The Simpsons and News Radio. On the silver screen, he impressed in So I Married An Axe Murderer, impersonating a peculiar prison guard from Alcatraz. Unluckily, Phil’s life was cut short at the still young age of 49. He was killed by his own wife, who soon afterwards committed suicide – what a crazy way to leave this world.

RIVER PHOENIX

Ever hear of The Viper Room? You’ve probably only associated the renowned Hollywood rock club with the persona of Johnny Depp, but there’s one more person who had the bad luck of setting his foot within this venue. Outstretched on the sidewalk, River Phoenix died of drug overdose right outside the club with as few as 23 years of age. At the moment of his death, he had already been nominated to an Oscar and starred in movies such as Stand by Me and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt were actually used for characters that Phoenix was meant to play, so you can only imagine what a star he would be right now.

THE NOTORIOUS B.I.G.

Christopher Wallace, often called “Biggie Smalls”, died at just 24 years; his death saw his newest album, ironically named Life After Death, top the charts for weeks. Following in Tupac’s footsteps, Christopher was killed by a drive-by shooter. It still hasn’t been decided whether Wallace’s death was caused by him being a member of the Crips or by the omnipresent rivalry between the east coast and the west coast. Unfortunately, before his tragic death, Biggie Smalls had only recorded one album. Diddy might be the only person to have found a positive in Cristopher’s passing – his career seriously took off only after his mentor perished.

PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN

Hoffman was an actor you could base a religion upon – an incredible star with movies like The Master and God’s Pocket under his belt, he reached a level of fame at which the sight of his face was enough to make people watch a production – just like in The Hunger Games. Be it drama or comedy, Philip could master each with ease of a proven actor. It is a shame that his heroin addiction got the best of him when he was just 46.
