Ever hear of The Viper Room? You’ve probably only associated the renowned Hollywood rock club with the persona of Johnny Depp, but there’s one more person who had the bad luck of setting his foot within this venue. Outstretched on the sidewalk, River Phoenix died of drug overdose right outside the club with as few as 23 years of age. At the moment of his death, he had already been nominated to an Oscar and starred in movies such as Stand by Me and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt were actually used for characters that Phoenix was meant to play, so you can only imagine what a star he would be right now.
