8 Offensive Costumes you Shouldn’t Wear & Why
It’s that time of the year again when kids and adults can dress up and have fun on Halloween. Dressing up as a pedophile or a celebrity sex offender may seem funny, but it is not. Be one of those who dress up for fun and laughs, not to exhibit your poor taste and complete ignorance. There are certain offensive costumes that don’t just cross the line, they break it – make sure yours isn’t one of them.
Blackface
Whether polishing or painting your face black is a way of you paying homepage to a black celebrity or artist, or just your insensitive way of pretending to look like a famous personality, it is simply wrong. Considering that it’s 2015, you should avoid being a racist, no matter how much your inner douche wants you to.
Syrian Refugee
Millions of residents have been uprooted from their homeland and have been forced to wander into Europe in the hope of a safe life. Going to a Halloween party as a Syrian Refugee would start a laughter riot, wouldn’t it? Unless your friends are as insensitive as you are trying to be, it is a terrible idea to laugh at someone else’s expense.
Bill Cosby
There are plenty of people on the internet who crack jokes on how Bill Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted more than 50 women. The only thing worse than making Bill Cosby sex offender jokes is dressing up like him for Halloween. Sexual assault isn’t funny, and the only ones laughing at your Bill Cosby costume would be equally disgusting individuals.
Caitlyn Jenner
Last year has been all about how Bruce Jenner became Caitlyn Jenner, and this year the online stores are flooded with “Call Me Caitlyn” costumes. If you consider that transgendered people are funny is some way and we should laugh at them for being different, you should probably go home to the 17th Century.
Terrorist
If you have been thinking of representing ISIS or Al Qaeda this Halloween, Chris Brown beat you to it. Terrorist organizations such as ISIS are beheading innocent people in the Middle East, ruining lives all over the world. Terrorism should in no way be taken lightly, and dressing up as a suicide bomber at a party just screams ignorance.
Ebola
The most unoriginal and ignorant thing to do this Halloween is to dress up as an Ebola patient or Ebola doctor, or something even worse – an Ebola zombie. Ebola claimed thousands of lives in West Africa last year, and no matter how demented your humor is, it will never be okay to consider Ebola as your costume theme.

The most sensationalized case of Islamophobia in the United States will never be something to laugh about, no matter how hard you try. Ahmed was arrested from is school because his teacher alerted the authorities for the “bomb” he brought in as a class project.
Homeless
No matter how many times it is objected, people have, and will continue to make fun of homeless people. There are more than 600,000 homeless people living on the sidewalks right now, which is something to think about. Just don’t be that kind of person, no matter how hilarious you think it might be.
