You’ve heard these ‘facts’ throughout your life. However, those are not facts, those are myths, and today you are going to get smarter!

Bulls get angry at the sight of red. Bulls cannot tell the difference between colors, expect the white colors, which they see the best. What about corrida, you may ask? The red color of the muleta was chosen for esthetical purposes: so that the audience doesn’t see the blood.

Ostriches bury their heads in the sand when they’re scared. That’s not true. Just like any other animal, an ostrich runs away when it’s scared.

Bananas grow on palm trees. Nope. Bananas grow on tree-looking plants, which can be as high as 33 feet.

Albert Einstein was a bad student. Actually, he was a good student. Not an excellent one, but good. The only bad mark he had was a ‘C’ for the French language.

Bats are blind. Nope, they are not. Scientists have proven that bats have a pretty good vision, but they see better in the dark.

A lightning cannot strike the same place twice. It’s a dangerous myth. Some buildings are struck by lightnings as many as 10 times per year.

Camels accumulate water in their humps. Nope. It has been proven that camels accumulate fat in their humps. They need it to be able to walk for weeks without food.

Galileo Galilei did not say ‘And yet it moves’. This phrase appeared five years after the death of the scientist.

If you hold a frog in your hands – a wart appears. It’s a myth. The only thing that is responsible for warts is the papilloma virus.

If you laugh a lot – you will get expression wrinkles on your face. On the contrary, laughing a lot tones your skin, according to scientists.

Neuron cells are not restored. Science claims: neurogenesis takes place in the brain ALL THE TIME, which means new neuron cells constantly grow in place of their predecessors.

Great Wall of China is the only man-made object on Earth that can be seen from the space. That’s a myth and it was probably invented by the Chinese. You can easily see Egypt’s pyramids and airstrips as well as many other man-made objects from low orbits.

A water sinkhole in the southern hemisphere rotates in another direction, compared to the northern hemisphere. Nope. The speed of rotation of the Earth is not enough to even have an impact on water in your sink, let alone sinkhole.

The brain of humans works at only 10 percent. Nope, that’s not true. According to numerous studies, the large part of the cerebral cortex is actively used by humans in everyday life.

A coin dropped from a skyscraper can kill someone. Not true. Even if a coin is dropped from the Empire State Building, it won’t do a thing to a human walking on the sidewalk below.

Brain cells division in adults stops at some point. Even though the brain grows and goes through its most active stages in the childhood, brain cells division doesn’t stop even in adults.

Everest is the highest mountain in the world. Nope, Mauna Kea is. Standing 13,796 feet above sea level, Mauna Kea’s peak is the highest point in the state of Hawaii. When measured from its oceanic base, Mauna Kea is over 33,000 feet tall, which is significantly taller than Everest.

Hair and nails continue to grow even after death. Nope. After the death, pretty much all the processes in the human body stop immediately.

If you run when it’s raining, you get wet less. Scientists have proven that it’s a myth.

If the thing you’ve dropped is picked up within 5 seconds, it wasn’t dropped in the first place. That’s absurd. Numerous studies have shown that bacteria gets onto any object dropped on the ground immediately.

Animals can sense natural disasters. There are no proofs that animals have the sixth sense, but they do have an excellent sense of smell, hearing and vision.

The changes in times of the year occur due to changes of the distance between the Earth and the sun. Not true. It’s the tilt angle of the Earth against the sun that affects the change of summer, fall, winter and autumn.

A gum is digested for 7 years. Yes, a gum is digested a little slower than other food, but it’s definitely not 7 years.

There will be no redheads and blondes soon. Recessive genes that give birth to redheads and blondes are transferred from generation to generation, which is why redheads and blondes will always be among us.

Veins are blue because of lack of oxygen. The lack of oxygen turns the blood into the wine-colored color, not blue. Veins look blue through the skin.

Cracking your fingers leads to problems with joints. Cracking your fingers might annoy your colleagues, but it doesn’t cause any joint problems.

Stress leads to high blood pressure. Stress can temporarily raise the blood pressure, but hypertonia is caused by having a bad diet, genetic predisposition and smoking.

Lemmings are suicidal. Lemmings don’t commit mass suicides. However, when migrating, they sometimes fall from cliffs by accident.

Brontosaurus is the largest dinosaur. The myth about brontosaurus being the largest dinosaur was born 135 years ago by two rivaling paleontologists.

Humans contracted HIV/AIDS through sexual intercourse with a monkey. Nope. It actually happened when a human was directly exposed to monkey blood.
