14 ACTORS (AND ACTRESSES) WE’D LIKE TO SEE PLAY BOND
After playing Bond for ten years, British Actor Daniel Craig explains his tender feelings on the topic of his successor: “I don’t give a f*** who plays Bond next.” Well. That just about says it all. Craig may not care, but Bond fans certainly do. Today we’re taking a look at just a few potential Bonds we’d love to see on the silver screen.
ROBERT DOWNEY JR.
This one seems so obvious it’s hard to believe it hasn’t happened yet. A quick side-step away from his famous portrayal of Tony Stark is the role of his lifetime: Bond. And you can’t tell us people wouldn’t line up around the block to see this guy take the lead.
NATHAN FILLION
A bit less obvious, but still a very intriguing choice. Sci-fi legend Nathan Fillion has legions of dedicated fans he could bring to the franchise. And wouldn’t it be cool to hear him offer his trademark quips in a British accent?
ANGELINA JOLIE
No, we don’t mean she should play one of the Bond girls. When interviewed on this topic the actress made it very clear that she’d like to play Bond, not his female one-off sidekick. This would be a bold move for the series, but would anyone really complain?
DAVID BOREANAZ
“Angel” and “Bones” star, Boreanaz has already proven that not only does he have great range as an actor, but he also looks great in a suit. It would be a blast to see his no-nonsense Booth character get a more action-packed refit in the Bond role.
WILL SMITH
We shouldn’t even have to explain this one. If you’ve seen Smith in, well, anything since his early days as a young prince, you know he can handle Bond while bringing his trademark charisma to the film.
CILLIAN MURPHY
This dynamic actor has played villain, saint, and everything in-between. We could expect a deep take on Bond from this dreamy Irishman.
BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH
Returning to the British aisles, we find “Sherlock” star, Cumberbatch. This actor seems more than capable of filling the secret agent’s shoes and then some. Maybe he’d be the one inventing his own gadgets.
SCARLETT JOHANSSON
If Jolie can play Bond, why not Miss Johansson? No stranger to action movies, Bond would be a comfortable fit for this actress.
JAMES FRANCO
Is there anything Franco can’t do? From the serious to the absolutely ridiculous, he’s pulled off role after roll without a hitch. Bond is a great place for Franco, since the role is dead-center between serious and ridiculous.
JUDE LAW
Sometimes pretty boy, sometimes action star, Jude Law would bring more than a great jawline to the role, but let’s not pretend his jaw isn’t a factor!
GUY PEARCE
Ever since “Memento,” it’s been clear Pearce is in a league of his own. His Bond is something we wouldn’t miss for the world.
ANDREW LINCOLN
Despite his rough-and-tumble, Southern sheriff bit on “The Walking Dead,” Andrew Lincoln is a proper English gentleman. There’s no doubt he could bring a lot to the role with his depth of skill as an actor.
CHRIS PRATT
Funnyman Chris Pratt has recently tried his hand at action in the blockbuster “Jurassic World. We’d love to see him take it a bit further as international spy James Bond.
AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST… NICK CAGE
You can’t lose with Nick Cage. He’s going to a great job or a horrible one; there is no in-between. But either way, we’d fork over our hard-earned cash to see his take on the legendary role any day of the week.
