If you’re a horror movie buff, you’ve probably seen the eerie ”Exorcism of Emily Rose”. The movie is based on the real-life story of Anneliese Michel, who was allegedly possessed (and then murdered) by a poltergeist.

Suicide Forest (Aokighara, Japan)

The name is not a fancy gimmick to attract paranormal enthusiasts, but a suited title to the most haunted forest in the entire world. Some reports suggest that almost 100 suicides occur each year in the Aokighara Forest, and the locals have stopped counting the bodies.

The Harrisville Farmhouse

Hollywood horror movies are often inspired by true events, and “The Conjuring” is one such terrifying masterpiece. As the story goes around, the Perron family was haunted by a poltergeist that called herself “Bathsheba”. This true story of a blood-chilling poltergeist was recreated into “A Haunting in Connecticut”. The Campbell family moved to Connecticut with the hope of curing their son’s cancer, but their lives changed forever when the evil spirit tormented their new home.

Roland Doe

This story goes back to 1949, where a boy from Cottage City was infamously known to have been possessed by a demon spirit. The story was recreated as a movie (The Exorcism), and was based on comments of witnesses who said that Roland had supernatural strength, spoke dead languages of ancient times and could levitate as well.

Amityville Haunting

Probably the most popular ghost tale in America, the Amityville haunting is the source of a number of films and books. As the real-life story has been told, the occupant family of the house was brutally murdered by their own son in 1974. The house has since been an epicenter of strange noises, visions of spirits and supernatural encounters.

Demons of Indiana

The Ammons family from Gary, Indiana allege that their house was not tormented by just a poltergeist, but Beelzebub, lord of the flies. Layota Ammons and her family experienced all sorts of crazy things – shadowy figures, flickering lights and demonic sounds.

The Greenbrier Ghost

Only if the supernatural helped us fight crime like the ghost of Zona Heaster Shue. Zona is probably the only poltergeist in history to help convict the person who murdered her. Zone visited her mother after a month of her death and explained how she was murdered by Edward Shue.

The Ghost of Hampton Court Palace

The Hampton Court Palace is known to be haunted just like several other monuments in Britain, but this venue is home to a ghost that isn’t camera-shy. Nicknamed the “Skeletor”, the ghostly figure was captured by a CCTV camera at the Hampton Court Palace as a skeletal figure wearing clothes from the Victorian era.
